2013-14 Yearbook - September

When I started this blog, I just wanted to have something my kids could one day look back to remember our daily life.  However, life happened and the blog did not.  I am hoping to do better with it this year.  I thought one way to help me catch up would be to do a Month by Month Yearbook of our last school year!  It will mostly be pictures but hopefully it will be a good way to get caught up!

A Look at September 2013!

Although we officially started our new school year in August, September marked the first day of Classical Conversations.  I was able to catch a few pics before we headed out for our first day at our new campus!

Jane Maddy on her very first day of school ever!

Julianna-Marie, my first grader!

Johnna Katherine Mae, My kindergartener!

One of the kids favorite parts of the beginning of school this year was their Calendar Notebooks.  Unfortunately, it didn't last long.  They got bored with them and mid-year we pushed them to the back burner!  I wrote a post on Buggy Full of Blessings about these notebooks.  Check it out @

Blessing of Routines

Jennaleigh also started Mother's Day Out in September.  Don't let the gloomy face fool you! She loves it!!!!

One of our first science projects this year had us go on a nature walk to see if we could identity some different habitats.  The kids had so much fun although we were simply in a field by our house!

We were blessed so much this year with amazing CC tutors!  I will post a CC blog eventually!!!!

The kids doing a science project at CC!

And Johnna Katherine showing off her mirror images!

As if the beginning of school is not crazy enough, Julia and I got this wild idea to make and sale Halloween bags.  The ironic thing was my kids didn't even go trick or treating or to a Fall Festival this year.  But we have a jump start on next year!

Our models are below!

The boys.... Roman and John Mark

The Girls!

 Johnna Katherine and Isla Katherine!

 Lottie liked to pose!

Julia and I even got to go out one day by ourselves and celebrate her birthday!
First time to Urban Taco!

JohnMark had a blast playing Upward Flag Football!

The girls were his biggest cheerleaders! I am certain no other player had as
many person cheerleaders as John Mark!

We even enlisted the cousins to come out and cheer!

Despite John Mark's team being called the "Longhorns" the girls still yelled
"Boo, Longhorns! Yeah! Alabama!"

Oh! And les us never forget the day the van battery died and we were stuck at WalMart.  Aunt Juju had to walk home!  Mrs. Shannon came to our rescue.  We almost melted! And why yes, my kids were in Pjs!

Waiting for a new battery!

Speaking of melting, there was the incident with Jennaleigh that almost a year later still makes me sick to think about or speak about.  I am posting this picture to remind me of the mercy and goodness of God!  So thankful that this sweet beautiful girl is still here with us today!

It happened to be on the same day as the BLT cook out at our house! Fun party!

And reconnecting with a former student! So glad Miss Liz is back in our lives!

Another fun Alabama tradition that Julia thought we should introduce to Texas
was our annual Miss America party.  We invited some our friends to Julia's house to see who would be crowned our own Miss America.  Of course, we had plenty of Miss America themed refreshments (Julia must have taken those pics)  And every lovely lady got a crown but at the end of the night only one of us got to go home with the title, Mrs. America!

 Bonnie and Diane

Part of the group cheering on their states!

Jane Maddy crashed the party too!

Angie was working on her pageant wave!

Miss Andrea - Our 4th Runner Up!

I was 3rd Runner UP but may have been disqualified for having a baby!  (The scandal!)

Who would our Mrs America be.... Mrs. Angie or Mrs. Bonnie!

And the winner was MRS BONNIE!!!!

We had an awesome time and hope to make it a TX tradition!

That wraps up my September!

Oh but wait some cute but random pictures to end on.....

Finally, they all looked!
